Performance The previous owner installed a short shifter. He said he installed 3.73 gears but I?m a little skeptical about that with the times I?m running. Other then that, completely stock with 130,000 miles. Best 1/4 mile time was 14.7 @ 95 mph. I have since put BBK unequal shorty headers, o/r h-pipe, and 2 chamber flowmasters on. Haven?t had the chance to run it at the track yet. I also put an Edelbrock upper and lower intake on, along with a 70mm throttle body and EGR spacer. I made this into a weeklong project. Next performance upgrades will be heads and suspension stuff. Possibly a conversion from speed density to mass air too. History The mustang went up for sale at a repair shop a block away from my house. I wasn?t crazy about the looks but after I drove it I fell in love with the power. I bought it in March of 2002 during my junior year of high school when I was 17 . I worked and saved my money for 2 summers and paid $4,000 for it. It was my first car. In August of 2003 me and a couple of my friends were parked on the side of the road while my buddy was trying to fix his car. It was about 1:30 am when some drunk jackass rearended my buddy?s 92 camaro (at 40 mph) which in turn went into the back of my mustang. Thats why the paint is chipped and scratched on the rear bumper. It also mangled my exhaust and I used the insurance money to buy headers and mufflers. My buddy?s camaro was totaled though. Needless to say this car has been a learning experience. Everytime I get some money saved up to make some performance upgrades, something breaks. It?s an adventure everytime. So far I have been forced to replace: Fuel Pump - should of gone with an upgraded one in hind sight It?s a real pain to pull the fuel tank. Fan and Fan Clutch - should of gone with electric in hind sight No problems went smoothly. Radiator - should gone with a upgraded one. Easy as Pie. Water Pump - did replace with a high flow unit from Summit Worst project ever, I broke a bolt off in the block. Alternator - should of gone with a 3G in hind sight Easy, had to replace harness too. Complete Exhaust - partly by choice should?ve gone with long tubes Made stupid beginners mistakes. It?s worth paying someone to install. Clutch - done professionally, should of gone with "King Cobra" Replaced door lock actuators - worked for 2 months then failed, again Harmonic Balancer - went with a Ford Racing SFI Unit Who knows what it will be next to break.... (probably the starter) Some badly needed headlights(ultra clear), then a paint job and new tinting will hopefully be coming soon. |
